  The location.

  I was there for two days. My room was not cleaned and the bed was very uncomfortable.

  Although The Lord Edgin is a hotel built in 1941, it is totally up to date in decor and amenities, along with a fitness cneter and a pool. The location is central to most of the places that we wanted to visit in Ottawa. The staff was very helpful and gracious. The Lord Elgin Hotel made our stay in Ottawa a very pleasant experience.

  The Lord Elgin has a business center on the main floor. The use of comptuers and internet, I believe, is free. There is internet access in the rooms, but there is a daily charge. I was told at the desk that the hotel administration is re-looking at the internet charge that is required in room use. Many hotels today are offering Wi-Fi free in each rrom and, I presume, The Lord Elgin is thinking along these lines. This is another exmaple of the hotel adminsitration keeping The Lord Elgin current and up to date.

  Staff were all friendly. It was my wedding anniversary. They took the time to leave us a card in our room to congratulate us. Everyone was helpful and easy to deal with.

  Location for sight-seeing in the capital is excellent...never had to take the car out of the garage as everything is within easy walking distance, including dining and shopping.

  I really enjoyed my stay at the Lord Elgin. It was in a fantastic location, with shops and pubs nearby, close to the Canal and all the tourist locations (if one was going to see them). The room was clean and cozy with a fridge and coffee machine. I don't recall there being a dresser but I did hang my clothing in the closet. Based on a 4 night stay, a few more hangars would have been nice! Having a lap pool to do a few laps after a hot day was lovely. I never once had to use transit because everything I wanted or needed to do was in walking distance. The room itself was clean and the king size bed made for a great night's sleep.

  I suppose it would have been nice to have an easy chair or something in the room but the desk worked out fine. Rooms are small but it is a historical hotel so I think they did well with the space provided. One small thing - the whirlpool water was quite dirty. That was certainly a turn-off although I was more interested in using the lap pool in any case. I also thought the room could have used better lighting - it always seemed dark. But the bathroom was very bright and had a great shower!

  Excellent location. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Good size fridge in the room.

  The parking was a rip-off: $26/day when all around the hotel parking was free and widely available during weekends. Breakfast was also very expensive: $20/person. (One can get a filling breakfast at Tim Horton's for $5)

  I loved the king size bed, and I loved the pool! I was impressed with the cleanliness of the pool, and the excellent service demonstrated by all hotel staff I dealt with. I appreciated the hotel's proximity (walking distance) to several main attractions - the Byward Market, the Mint, the National Gallery, the Rideau Shopping Centre,...

  My only criticism is that the blinds covering the window in the bathroom were not clean in my room.

  In-room internet should be free. Rooms and hallways need a facelift.
